Trina Mitchell

Mentor

Trina Mitchell was inspired to become a mentor because she believes deeply in the power of guidance and connection. Throughout her own journey, she benefited from mentors who helped her recognize her potential, challenged her to grow, and offered perspective during her formative years. She is committed to paying that forward by supporting young women as they navigate their own paths.

Professionally, Trina works as a School Social Worker, focusing on building meaningful relationships with students, families, and community leaders. She is passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. Outside of work, Trina loves traveling and seeking adventures, which she views as one of her greatest avenues for learning. To date, she has visited 33 states, 16 countries, and 5 continents, each experience enriching her understanding of people, culture, and history. Her goal is to visit all 50 states, every continent, and all diaspora countries to witness how Afro-descendant communities live, express culture, and build identity across the world.

Trina brings a combination of leadership, activism, problem-solving, creativity, and effective communication, alongside strong experience working with youth and high-risk populations. Her work with diverse individuals and communities has helped her appreciate different perspectives and understand how to meet people where they are. Her approach is grounded in listening, reflection, transparency, accountability, and helping others identify their own strengths and goals.

Her goal as a mentor is to help mentees feel confident, capable, and clear about their direction. She strives to create a space where young women can explore their ideas, challenges, and ambitions freely, leaving with practical tools and a deeper sense of self. Ultimately, Trina aims to contribute to a cycle of growth and empowerment that extends beyond the program, helping shape the next generation of successful leaders.
