Position: Mentor (Part-Time)
Salary Range: $45 per hour, 6 hours a week, 36 weeks per year
Location: Hybrid (Los Angeles, CA)

Job Summary:
The Mentor will build positive and supportive relationships with mentees, provide guidance, and share personal and professional experiences. This role involves facilitating the personal and professional development of mentees through regular interactions and activities. The Mentor will support the social emotional, advocacy, empowerment, resilience, intelligence, success, and empowerment of R.I.S.E. girl mentees, ages 10-15 (elementary school, middle school or high school groups).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Building:

    • Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with mentees.

    • Create a safe and trusting environment where mentees feel comfortable sharing their experiences and challenges.

  • Guidance and Support:

    • Provide guidance and advice based on personal and professional experiences.

    • Assist mentees in setting and achieving personal and professional goals.

    • Offer support and encouragement to help mentees overcome obstacles and develop resilience.

  • Facilitation:

    • Use copyrighted curriculum to build lesson plans, ice breakers, and supplementary materials for group mentor sessions and one-on-one sessions as needed.

    • Facilitate discussions and activities that promote the personal and professional development of mentees.

    • Encourage mentees to explore their interests, strengths, and potential career paths.

    • Help mentees develop skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Program Participation:

    • Participate in training and development sessions provided by the organization.

    • Attend and contribute to mentor meetings and program events.

    • Provide feedback to program coordinators on the progress and needs of mentees.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Prior experience in mentoring, coaching, teaching, or a related field.

    • Experience working with youth or young adults is highly desirable.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Available from 2 PM to 5 PM one day per week (day to be determined based on site placement).
